The Need for Money Management
Warren Buffett said when the tide goes out, we will see those who have been swimming naked. This certainly seems to be the case since the recession has hit as many peoples debt positions have been exposed. The economy has been hit hard as a result.
I believe financial and wealth education is drastically needed throuhout the country but what do you think?

applicable to no one more so than the Irish Government...
unfortunately we've been poorly served by our politicians and we find that they only know how to tread water (with or without their briefs!!) and haven't even the ability to swim the front crawl.

While I agree the government has been found wanting, it is evident now from looking back at the various recessions/depressions the world has endured, that the buck stops with us, the public.
I dont recall too many complaints from the people when we were afforded ridiculous amounts of credit to purchase houses which were at astronomical levels.
I for one am tired of the complaining and looking back, hence I have now chosen to be responsible for my own destiny. In my opinion, this is an attitude the general public must have. Therefore, the need for a basic understanding of economics and finance are a must in order for us to move forward.
I do accept your criticisms of the government but is Enda Kenny really a viable and credible alternative?? Why is there are no young outspoken politicians coming through the ranks?? A bit of passion would be nice to see and welcomed throughout the country I would have thought?

I'd agree with this philosophy of personal responsibility which extended to wider society is essentially a belief in the capability of the "market" to correct itself. And it will.
I also agree that enda is part of treading water brigade. A good man for education minister (he’s a fully qualified teacher that maintains his teaching pension and keeps a job in the Dail) but not the man for alternative and lateral thinking leadership.
There are strong competences and new ideas mostly in the junior ministerial level, I can think of two offhand; John McGuinness and Billy Kelleher; but unfortunately on the senior ministerial side we've just inherited the tattered leftovers of Bertie’s garden gnomes.
Once McCreevy was axed, there were two types of competence left in the FF garden; teacher gnome and lawyer gnome.
Not a commercial person amongst them as evidenced by their incapability to ever negotiate anything resembling a “deal” with the anti-social partners. Not one of the senior ministers has ever had to sit down opposite a hard nosed customer looking for value and sell anything to them. If they have I’d be interested to know as it would change my opinion.

Prenasledovanie viedlo k monštrprocesom (Proces s protištátnym centrom, kde súdili gen. tajomníka KSČ Slánskeho, rodinného priateľa Gottwalda, ministra zahr. vecí Vl. Clementisa , námestníkov ministrov atp., procesy s buržoáznymi nacionalistami –Husák, Novomeský a spol.) Väčšinou išlo o tresty smrti (popol popravených použili na posýpanie ciest pri poľadovici).Súdení boli v podstate aj všetci partizánsky velitelia ( zo strachu pred ich autoritou). Posledné tresty smrti sa vykonali v roku 1954, keď už zomrel Stalin a všetko už bolo ináč. Došlo aj násilnému presídleniu desaťtisícov Maďarov do českého pohraničia na miesta odkiaľ boli vyhnaní Nemci. (Prvý raz boli Maďari postihnutí na mierovej konferencii v Paríži po prvej svetovej vojne. Československo malo mať hranice na etnickom princípe. Pražská vláda však presadila strategické hranice – po hrebeňoch Šumavy a na čiare Dunaj - Ipeľ. Takto proti svojej vôli sa do ČSR dostalo okolo 300 000 Maďarov). V oboch prípadoch ide o vážny dôvod na hry politických strán tzv maďarskou kartou
